Triple Threat

by Sarah Fawcett on 01/18/11

I have been busier than a a one-eyed cat watching nine rat holes.  Or should I say that I'm as busy as a Group Fitness Director looking after 3 Fitness clubs....count 'em, 3!  I have been at Tecumseh the last 2 days, meeting instructors that have been on the roster, some for years, some just recently.  They're a good bunch out there.  The staff is very friendly, too.  The members are very excitable, too.  I videotaped Corey's class for the website and the participants were ROWDY!  It was fun.

I will be implementing some changes at Tecumseh that work for the South location, like having the REV sign-up list outside of the studio and having the 3 distinct studios for 3 distinct disciplines:  Group X, REV and Planet Yoga.  Change is always difficult and I know eventually the members will come around and stop throwing things at me....kiddding.  I do things for the benefit of the club and its members, but I am always willing to hear any other options you might have.

February is going to sneak up on me quickly as I will be getting back from vacation when the new schedules are supposed to be out (February 7th).  I apologize in advance if I forget to change something on the website, but the paper copies and the boards outside the studios should be good to go.

Take a look around the clubs and on the website for our March fundraiser WALK IN HER SHOES; it's going to be exciting to exercise during this event.  Sarah Tregaskiss sent me the link and I chose to have the gyms sponsor it because 80-90% of women participate in fitness classes...What better way to show support for women by having loads of women kick some a##!  I plan on having team teaches all week, 30 minute classes during the day, Saturday and Sunday events.....this is why I love what I do.    Find my link, join my team, and have a blast!  BTW, everyone who registers gets a pedometer--freebie!!!

Adios!
Hasta luego!
Nos Vemos!

Ciao!
Hasta la vista!

Say Hi/Lo to 2011!!

That never gets old....

The holiday classes were amazing!  Central has never seen so many participants dancing in that studio.  Corey and Tanya did a great job.  I had to fend off the Rev enthusiasts as I was changing the board; they wanted to be let in to grab their bikes and go!  I didn't have a chance to see the yogis partake in their relaxing practice, but I'm sure Nancy's soothing voice and style of teaching was enjoyed by all.  For me, I got to jump around!  I am at my happiest when I do that.

At the end of every month I get a little busy on the computer with the polishing up of the new schedules and completing the newsletter (with help from Rita, of course).  But I was on my laptop for 7 hours on the 30th!  I think I let all of my emails pile up for too long. I am not complaining, I enjoyed every minute. I planned some tasks to complete for the new year; one includes completing my video library for the Class Descriptions page on the website.  I won't be giving any warning whatsoever.  I'm just showing up with my handy camera.  Smile for me please.

Get ready for bigger classes in January.  Show up early, grab your spot (you know who you are!), and make way for those who haven't been at the gym in awhile.  More members mean more energy~~I'm gonna call that the Mmmme Principle! Perhaps a resolution could be, for all you die-hards, to re-try a class or an instructor that rubbed you the wrong way the first time you participated.  He or she might have had an off day, he or she might have changed their style of teaching since that last class, or maybe as a participant you weren't in the right frame of mind that particular day.

My favourite quote of all time:

"Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people just don't shoot their husbands, they just don't."  Elle Woods, Legally Blonde

 Words to live by.

I've got some Christmas spirit brewing....it may be just the flu.

If you haven't seen the names for the holiday classes, you have to check them out because I was smiling to myself the whole time....yes, they are pretty cheezy.  I'm really going to have fun teaching them, you guys (members) make my day.

And while in that holiday spirit, I have planned a Lifestyle Group X night out at Armando's on Cabana at 7 pm.  If you would like to hang out with some cool instructors please join us because you're the ones who make us cool (or think we are).  Wow.  I've got some merry in me.  Or just hallucinating because of this head cold.

New to this blogging business....

by Sarah Fawcett on 11/27/10

There always seems to be something happening at the gym for me on a day-to-day basis.  Perhaps this blogging thing is to keep you up-to-date on the latest happenings, maybe it'll be to show you what I, and everyone else who is employed at this gym, actually does, and maybe it'll actually get me to use my hard-earned English degree (now I can't make any typos or grammatical errors!)  Let's just see how long it lasts.

One thing you might notice is that I won't you post any comments.  That was on purpose.  This is supposed to be fun for me and informative for you.  We don't need any:  "Did you see the dust bunnies....." or "The spin bikes are.....".  If you have any complaints, comments or questions, please email me directly or stop at he Front Desk on your way in to talk to a manager.  Agreed?

First and foremost, yes, the spin bikes are awfully loud.  I'm keeping track, seeing how many are getting louder by the minute.  Numbers will be on the bikes in the next few days and if you ride one of those 'loud' bikes, please write down the bike number and give it to the FRONT DESK!!  Or email me with it.  The bikes shouldn't be making this noise and are still under warrantee, and will be dealt with upon further investigation.

Hi/Lo or Bust,

Sarah
